In 1915, Albert Borella journeyed 1,000 km across the Northern Territory outback from the Tennant Creek area to Darwin, and then onto Townsville by ship, to enlist in World War I. He fought at Gallipoli and the Western Front; was wounded, commissioned on the battlefield, and awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest honour for valour in combat in Australia.

As part of the Anzac Centenary commemorations 100 years later, a team of riders retraced Borella’s footsteps along the Stuart Highway to enlist in the Great War. The Borella Ride was the flagship Anzac Centenary commemorative event for the Northern Territory.

Daily updates on the ride were aired on TV – I created this animated title as part of the graphics package for broadcast, using old wartime photos.
