Unscriptd had filmed one of their athletes, Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, in an empty studio kicking balls at camera ‘targets’ set out in the room. The client had gone to effort of filming but wasn’t sure what could come of it; the footage was sent to me in the hope it could be salvaged with some visual effects to turn it into content for social media.

I painted out the camera targets and replaced them with virtual pieces of fruit; animating each target as it was hit, and creating scoreboard over the top to turn the kick around into a video game scenario.

The result: Ander Herrera, Fruitball and a new high score!
